Definition Of Dramatic

Clyde had an extremely rough day today.

The poor guy didn't get to be out of his cage much more than a couple hours here and there. It always breaks my heart when I'm so busy with school and tennis because he doesn't get to have free reign around the house like Phinn does.

Phinn has earned her freedom and privileges. I can trust her alone when I'm not at the apartment. Clyde on the other hand is a different story.

I still remember the first day I bought Clyde and took him home. Within his first couple minutes of exploring the perimeters, he located a small hole underneath my dishwasher and literally went up inside my kitchen walls. I had a panic attack because I genuinely thought I was never going to see the little guy again.

Ever since then, my little nugget must be in his cage at all times If I'm not home or if I'm asleep.

Here's a photo of Clyde in all his dramatic despair last night laying on my dirty, smelly tennis socks.

Sincerely, A Very Intrigued Pet Owner

Phinn has begun to take part in a very strange activity. I call it scaling the bed.

Late at night and early in the morning, she gets pretty squirrelly and has recently been attaching her claws to the bed and gliding across the entire bed as if she was on a hovercraft.

The movement is kind of hard to explain, so I'll let the attached video do the talking. But I am curious...

Does anyone else's animals do this or is it just mine?

Phinn's Magic Ball

As of recently, Phinn has become fairly attached to her newest toy: a pink and purple sparkly ball. I just recently bought her this toy from a pet store, and she and her little ball have been inseparable ever since.

Phinn enjoys cuddling with her ball, playing fetch with her ball, and attempting to ambush and attack her ball.

If there are any kitten owners out there, I definitely recommend purchasing a small sparkly ball for your kitten to play with. And for only about a dollar, both you and your kitten get some pretty solid entertainment from it.

Clyde The Shoe Sniffer

After many long days and nights, the world is at peace again. I got home early Monday morning around 2:30 a.m. and have finally been able to spend some quality time with Phinn and Clyde.

Now, it's a little chillier and rainier here in Kansas than it was in Arizona. That being said, I've had to crank out the rain boots. What's the importance of this you might wonder? Well, my rain boots are Clyde's favorite toy to play with. (Or should I say play in).

Place a shoe in front of that ferret and he'll dig his head in the hole trying to find a tunnel to China. In fact, I've been watching him burry his head into my tennis shoes the entire time I've been typing this post.

Anyways, I'm going to share one of my all time favorite pictures of Clyde with my rain boots. Who knew rainy days could make an animal so dang happy?

Separation Anxiety

Okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic with the title, but I really do miss my two kiddos back home.

These six days will be the longest they've been without me, and I hope they're holding up okay. Like I've mentioned before, luckily, whenever I leave for tennis I have amazing parents and siblings who take on the task of watching Phinn and Clyde.

My dad called me yesterday while he was at my apartment and told me that my pets are doing great. During that time, my dad and Phinn played fetch while Clyde spent his entire time preoccupied with eating. He is one of the biggest fatties I know, but don't tell him I said that.

Although it will be super late, I'm really looking forward to seeing them on Sunday night. It'll be around midnight when I get back to Kansas, but don't worry my furry friends... I will stay up into the early morning hours to spend time with you. And then I will go take FOUR exams that fall between Monday and Tuesday.

Oh, why do life's busiest moments all seem to collide at the same time.

Surprise, Arizona

All apologies for my little absence on this blog. Life has been pretty hectic for me this past week!

Although this blog is about the adventures of Phinn and Clyde, every once in awhile a pet owner has to go on their own adventures too.

I have been in Surprise, Arizona all week competing in a tennis tournament, and let me tell you... my mind has been very distracted down here. So sadly, this means Phinn will have to try on her adorable pink sweater when I return to Kansas on Sunday night.

In the mean time, I'm going to post a map of where I am at in case anyone is interested. I had never heard of Surprise, Arizona before, but it is "surprisingly" a very unique spot (see what I did there).

All bad joking aside, if any of you ever get a chance to travel to Arizona, I highly recommend you visit Surprise. It is where the Royals do their spring training, and the atmosphere of this place is so casual and laid back. Anyone who likes this type of vibe would love Surprise!

Phinn The Fashionista

As a college student, I believe in supporting the university in which I attend. That is why I recently bought Phinn a Washburn University sweater. The sweater is pink with a sparkly blue Washburn logo, and I cannot wait to put Phinn into it.

Do I think Phinn will like wearing the sweater? Absolutely not.

Am I still going to at least put it on her to see how ridiculous she looks in it? Absolutely yes.

As I sit on my couch right now writing this post, Phinn is sitting down on the fireplace staring at me with loving eyes. I hope she doesn't get too upset with me for putting a pink sweater on her. She doesn't seem like much of a girly girl...

More pictures are to come in my following blog post of Phinn the fashionista, but for now I'm attaching a picture below of the sweater itself.

True Heartbreak

No-one ever prepares you for the true heartbreak of being a pet owner: leaving your pets.

Every once in awhile obligations come up which force us to pack our bags and leave our kiddos behind. This past weekend I got a little taste of what it's like to be a few states away from my animals, and let me tell ya... it was much harder than I anticipated.

I had a tennis tournament this past weekend and had to leave my animals on Friday and did not return until Monday night around 11:00. Luckily, my sister volunteered to babysit my animals while I was gone, but I worried about how they would handle me being away for four days.

When the tournament finally concluded on Monday, we ventured back to Kansas. The car ride felt like days, but we made it back to Topeka and as I arrived to my apartment, I couldn't contain my excitement as I walked up the stairs. When I opened the door, Phinn and Clyde acted like little children on Christmas morning. They were so happy their momma was finally home.

And although I was mentally and physically exhausted from the tournament, I forced myself to stay up for a couple hours so I could hang out with them.

They say it's nice to have someone to come home to. For me it just happens to be a couple of adorably furry creatures.
